Exploration of decolonial creative practice through interactive visualization & self-publishing (2023)
This project represents an exploration of decolonial creative practice through the lenses of interactive visualization and self-publishing, focusing on the emancipatory potential of artistic expression. At its core, the project challenges traditional aesthetics and power structures by prioritizing black, trans, and queer identities and employing procedural modeling and generative art to transcend fixed outcomes. The initiative harnesses the unpredictability of algorithmic processes to mirror the complex nature of identity and liberation, deliberately distancing itself from conventional, prescriptive norms. By creating a graphical user interface that facilitates real-time user interaction with Riso and procedural animations, the project not only democratizes the creative process but also serves as a tool for visual resistance and self-expression. This approach not only reimagines the aesthetics of resistance but also explores the profound impact of abstract, temporal, and impermanent elements in art, aiming to reflect and shape expansive, decolonial identities through the medium of self-published visual content.
