Experimental Switch (2023)
NAME:
EXPERIMENTAL SWITCH
DATE: 2023
MEDIUM: CIRCUIT PROTOTYPE
In a creative blend of fashion and technology, I developed a touch-activated light switch using the conductive properties of everyday jewelry. The project began with a simple breadboard setup, incorporating common electronic components like a transistor, battery, and LED. By experimenting with various chain and jewelry configurations, I discovered that attaching the clamps to my body jewelry not only increased the circuit's conductivity but also personalized the interaction. This exploration highlighted the potential of integrating conductive materials into functional, stylish wearable technology, providing insights into the unseen capabilities of common accessories.
Thermochromic ink & heating circuits (2024)
NAME:
THERMOCHROMIC INK & HEATING CIRCUIT
DATE: 2024
MEDIUM: CIRCUIT PROTOTYPE
In this project, I explored the use of thermochromic inks to create a visually interactive textile piece featuring a flame design that reveals the text "fire" when heated. Initially experimenting with different ink mixtures, I found that a combination of transparent base and thermochromic ink provided the best results. The project also involved crafting a heating element using conductive thread, where I learned the importance of continuous threading for effective heat distribution. This experience not only enhanced my technical skills but also inspired potential applications in my creative and teaching practices, such as creating designs that only appear through physical interaction.
