Angels Listening is a large-scale, immersive installation by Rachel Lee Hovnanian, presented at the 59th Venice Biennale. As part of the production team, I witnessed firsthand the transformation of the historic Biblioteca Zenobiana del Temanza into a contemplative space. The work centered on seven monumental white-bronze angels, their mouths taped shot, surrounding a silver confessional box where visitors would anonymoysly share written confessions on ribbons, capturing the words left unsaid: “what I couldn’t say… what I didn’t say…”.

Each day, we collected and arranged these ribbons into meditative displays throughout the garden, turning individual silences into a collective expression. From coordinating sculpture placement to fine-tuning lighting and spatial flow, our team’s role was to bring the physical and conceptual layers of the piece into harmony for an international audience.

As part of a collaborative design team for Angels Listening, we developed and produced all exhibition graphics, including placards, wall texts, promotional media, and branded tote bags. I worked closely with the artist and fellow designers to create a cohesive visual language that complemented the installation’s contemplative tone. My responsibilities extended beyond design to hands-on production and logistics—coordinating printed materials, traveling to Venice for on-site installation, and assisting with transporting and staging elements for the show.
