Hi, I’m Lorraine Cruz!

   Researcher | Artist | Designer

Lorraine Cruz ( they/them) is a multidisciplinary artist, researcher based in New York City, working across physical media, digital media, and experiences. They recently began their own studio, LifeLoops Studio, focused on research, conceptual & speculative design, exploring alternative futures through material design & systems mapping. Their practice lives in the cycle of deep research, ideating, and prototyping, focusing on visual systems & real-time experiences. They studied Psychology and Philosophy at New College and received an MFA in Design and Technology from Parsons. Cruz creates work and experiences that invite reflection, often confronting audiences with existential questions around extractive industries and possible futures.

They have exhibited at Triangle Arts Association, Genspace Biomaterials Showcase, Women's Studio Workshop, The Irma Freeman Center for Imagination, 3rd Story Gallery and Gallery ZXY, among others. They are currently showing their latest work Future Fossils in the show Consumed at the Paul Robeson Gallery, and most recently showed an experimental piece called Translated Matter in Works in Progress: Exploring and Deconstructing the Delicate Scaffolding of Our Shared Urban Ecosystems. They were recently the Artist-in-Residence at Genspace (2025), where they developed biomaterial sculptures, and are now part of the 2026 Genspace BioArtist Incubator.
