Research
This project examines how scientific framing shapes our relationship with non-human organisms, using mycelia as a focal point. By tracing mycelia through human documentation, a pattern emerged: extraction sits at the core of this knowledge production. Through hands-on experimentation, growing mycelia, observing its lifecycle, cultivating it in different forms. the work questions how objectivity in science influences the ways we relate to organisms and Earth.
Question
What might it look like to build
relationship with an organism?
Outcome
The research resulted in visual designs, photography, a physical installation, and a public lecture showcasing material experiments with mycelium and bioplastics as alternative biomaterial.
